Halloween

My research for this assignment was pretty much just looking at monsters and creatures from the Silent Hill series.  When I think about scary, I think horror, I think Silent Hill. But I have this problem that I love horror, but I can't draw it. Whenever I try to draw a monster, it just turns out to look cute. Which is the complete opposite unless we're talking about cute little kids which turn out to be the Devil's kids and all they do is ruin people's lives. I could have gone that road, but I decided to fight and draw a real monster this time.

Research

I started with some random sketches and things. 

 

 In the spirit of Silent Hill there is one character that always has to be mentioned. (Yes, I refer to him as character, not just a monster.)

Pyramid Head

Inspired by him, I have several characters with unnatural heads. Like my lamp head I drew last year and this guy as well: 

I thought about doing something more with him and I started painting:

But I gave up because I kind of wanted to run away of the humanoid shape. I went back to my sketches and  I took one of them which was again, Silent Hill inspired:

 

I tried my best not to make it look cute.  I painted and this is the finished result:

I think I managed to capture that Silent Hill feel in it.
