Plane:
Besides all the other listed assignments we had, we were set some other tasks in class. One of the really exciting set of lectures we were supposed to have was led by Robin and he promised to teach us how to use nDo and dDo. I was especially interested in those since texturing is something I would like to do in the future, even if I don't end up specializing in it.
Robin provided us with a 3D model of a plane and gave us the task to unwrap it. We were supposed to have it finished in a week. But we found out that the model was actually terrible, it had some annoying topology that made it hard to unwrap. It was in too many pieces and after 3 weeks struggling to unwrap it all, the class realized that we weren't actually learning what we were supposed to- which was actual texturing with nDo and dDo. We asked Robin if we could just leave the plane and move on. Even he wasn't done with his plane. So that's what we did, we watched a bit of the nDo and dDo tutorial and after that, we somehow stopped having anymore lessons on that. I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to that.
Still I almost finished unwrapping my plane. I learned a couple of things, but I felt like it was a bit of a waste in the end.
My UVs were all over the place since I never got to the stage to organize them.
Dog:
Another assignment we had with Robin was to use the new Maya retopoly tools and recreate the base dog from ZBrush. It took some time to get used to, but it was something quite useful to learn.

Mudbox and Zbrush:
We also had a couple of lessons with Ewan on Mudbox, though unfortunately I deleted my files for those because they were massive and I needed the space on my uni PC. I completely forgot that I would have to blog about it later, I didn't even think about taking screenshots.
But I can talk about what we did. We were shown a lot of examples and tutorials as well as tips from Ewan to help us sculpt the face of a famous actor. I chose Misha Collins for mine and I managed to get an ok result after a lot of struggling.
We also had a lesson on Zbrush's basics with Robin. Again, I have no screenshots from that, but it was mostly just messing around and trying out all the tools.
